BE ON PURPOSE
My passion is empowering women to live a purposeful and meaningful life, free from stress, grief and trauma
Ok, so since Amy Cuddy’s TED Talk on power poses, we’ve all started spending a lot more time in bathroom cubicles powering ourselves up by standing in Wonder Woman pose – right!?
According to her research, after two minutes standing like Wonder Woman in a tiny room can basically lead you to physiologically, in some ways, look like someone who has an enormous amount of power. If you still haven’t listened to her TED Talk go check it out because findings from the research are fascinating.
I’ve been a great believer that whatever you do to your body will affect your mind and vice-versa, especially since marrying a chiropractor and experiencing chiropractic first hand. This has opened me up to a whole new way of understanding the body and its innate intelligence which is why I take my work with women alongside active coaching includes body work when required.
So, given how much body influences our mind, I wanted to share how you can further supercharge the Wonder Woman pose. But first, let’s be clear about something. When going into Wonder Woman pose, please be mindful why you are doing it.
What are you intentions? Is it to impose power on others or to own your power? If it’s to impose power then standing in Wonder Woman pose can be a little like putting on an armour to go and fight a battle. This can be an energy drain in the long term because you feel like you need to protect yourself or be on a defensive. It’s like saying to yourself: “This is going to be tough and hard and ongoing”.
However, if your intention is to own your power, back yourself up and believe in yourself, then here is what you can do to help you embody your power, in other words, fake it till you make it:
Now, you’re ready to show up and shine and make a difference being you! Go get them girl!
