The Never Ending Potential

Back in November 2017, just after I finished The Empowered Woman Live Retreat, I was inspired to do something different to grow and stretch myself more, especially my brain!

It’s no surprise really. After seeing women experience breakthroughs at the retreat, I always leave the retreat with a feeling “anything is possible”.

So feeling inspired after the retreat, and after watching my my older daughter Lara learn to play the violin rather effortlessly, I wanted to learn how to play the violin.

I’ve always been in awe of the violin but only ever admired it from afar. So, I asked Lara to teach me the basics.

She broke it down into very simple steps for me. All I needed to remember was that Every Ant Digs Grass! This acronym helped me remember each string: E, A D, G.

Don’t you love it when we keep thing simple in learning?!

I’ve been playing the violin now for almost ten months and while I’m not quite past the squeaky-sounding stage, I’m amazed at how quickly it all comes together on some days!

But here’s what’s really amazing…playing the violin has been beneficial on so many levels which I’m only starting to realise now.

I’m finding myself clearer in my thinking; better able to organise my thoughts, short-term memory seems to have improved; I make quicker decisions; I’m more attuned to my environment, my concentration is better, and I have a new-found self-respect! Just to name a few…

A whole-new door to a part of me has been opened and I’m feeling like I’m only starting to tap into my potential.

I now find myself playing the violin as break from my work and it seems to give me more clarity, insight and inspiration.

I mentioned this to my teacher Victoria who shared that Albert Einstein used to play his violin as a break from his research and study and would then come back to work with more fresh ideas. I knew I was onto something!

So why was I insistent on sharing this with you? Because I wanted to remind you that it’s never too late. It’s never to late to change or start something. It’s never too late to make the most of your life. Break it down into small steps. Just take the first step.

Don’t question yourself.
Use your attention to focus on what you want.
Fine-tune your focus.
Use your intention to know why you want it.
Take small action to create a powerful momentum.
Keep moving forward.

To your amazing potential,
Suzi Petrozzi..

P.S. The image is a very jolly Suzi with her violin, and her awesome violin teacher Victoria Jacono-Gilmovich, director of Inner West Institute of Music
