When I reflect back on 2020 the word that comes to mind to sum up the year is ‘unwinding‘.
By this I mean unwinding who we thought we were; what we thought was important to us; what we thought we had to do or not do; who we thought we had to be or not be; how we thought things had be done; and the way we chose to live our life because of all of this.
Most people I’ve spoken to over the last few months shared that 2020 has opened them up to so much more than ever before. Yet, many of these people also can’t wait to put 2020 behind them.
I personally don’t believe that the the like of 2020 is behind us. This past year has forced us to confront, challenge, befriend and surrender unlike ever before.
I look at all of this as an invitation and an opportunity to live in alignment with our core truth.
This kind of invitation is not going away but will keep knocking at our door. It is a requirement for moving into a different kind of future, one in which we are in integrity with who we are. Meaning our words, our thoughts, our heart, our actions and our energy are in alignment.
Moving forward into 2021, I invite you to be honest with every cell in your being about what is working for you and what you need to change. Otherwise…
What is the purpose of being here, if you are not honouring the very Essence of who you are and living life in accordance with that?
For here’s the thing…the longer we are in discordance with what we feel at the core of our being, the greater our contribution to the disharmony and confusion of the world we live in. If you are reading this, you are someone who wants to make a difference in the world. Start with yourself.
We owe it to ourselves and each other to stop being that which we are not. This inevitably means confronting those parts of ourselves we don’t want to and pretend are not really there.
Integrity starts by being present in who we are in any given moment- without conditions.
Presence is about being truly open and aware of what needs acknowledging, accepting and allowing to move on, shift or transform in any given moment.
It’s not so much what we do about what we feel or sense. What is more important is being with what needs to be acknowledged. It’s not in the doing but in the being that we find ourselves. This is about acknowledging and accepting what current models, structures and dogmas no longer serve you.
As my mentor Fran Davidson said in our Empowered Conversation:
“We didn’t come here to absorb models but to be our very own model”. Yes, others can help point us in that direction but we are the only ones that can tap into the core of our very own model. So, whatever IS right now, in this very moment, accept it even if you don’t like it or agree with it. If you feel uncertain, unsure, or unclear accept that part of yourself even if you don’t like it.
This is how we allow opposing experiences to exist together. And when we can do that more and more, we become a powerful container for receiving more of what we really want. This is the very essence of presence.
